No Fee Unless You Win
A doctor in Jefferson County, Texas is being sued after allegedly being negligent and providing inadequate medical care, resulting in a patient’s death. The woman’s family stated in the lawsuit that the doctor acted negligently when he delayed diagnosing the woman.
On November 1, 2011, the woman checked into Beaumont Internal Medicine & Geriatric Associates, complaining of severe abdominal pain and shortness of breath. The woman’s physician at the facility did not initially order a CT scan to determine the cause of the woman’s pain, thereby delaying the discovery of her perforated duodenal ulcer and ischemic perforated right colon. This negligence resulted in terminal sepsis and renal failure As a result of the delayed diagnosis, the woman died on November 22, 2011.
The woman’s family is seeking an undisclosed amount in damages.
This doctor’s negligent behavior is unacceptable. As patients, we rely on physicians to correctly identify and treat our medical problems. The sooner a condition is diagnosed, the more likely it is that treatment will be successful. Easily treatable diseases or conditions can quickly become fatal if a misdiagnosis or a delay in diagnosis occurs.
If you believe that you or someone you love has been the victim of a misdiagnosis or a delayed diagnosis, it is important to seek qualified legal counsel. An Austin injury lawyer can investigate the incident, analyze your medical records and consult with other medical professionals to determine what level of impact an error in diagnosis had on your disease or condition.
