Around 9:30 p.m. on November 18, 2013, a 53-year-old Austin man was killed after a hit-and-run driver struck and killed him as he was walking home from a nearby store on FM 969. The man, who was legally blind, was only a few feet from his home when the accident occurred. The driver hit the pedestrian and fled the scene. A second vehicle hit the victim as well, but stopped to render aid. The 53-year-old died at a local hospital from his injuries.
