According to KEYE-TV, a female driver struck and killed a pedestrian in Southeast Austin on April 8. The driver stayed on the scene following the accident.
Officials reported that the accident happened at Bastrop Highway and Vargas Road near Montopolis Drive around 7:15 a.m. Austin Travis County EMS pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene. Police say the victim was legally using a crosswalk.
The Austin Police Department is investigating the fatal pedestrian accident, and say that they do not believe drugs or alcohol played a factor in the wreck. As of now, the driver is not facing any charges.
