Car AccidentsTexas Car Accident Injures Four and Cuts Local Electric Power

October 10, 2013by Aaron Allison

A two-car accident near Austin recently sent four people to area hospitals and knocked out power to some Bastrop County residents. The Texas Department of Public Safety reported that the early evening Sunday accident occurred on Highway 95 when a 57-year-old male driver traveling north in his pickup truck was turning left into a gas station — and directly into the path of an oncoming pickup truck driven by a 68-year-old man.

The impact caused both vehicles to leave the road. The second pickup truck hit a power pole head-on, snapping the pole and causing a live wire to fall to the ground, where it started a small grass fire that was extinguished by local firefighters. The 57-year-old driver was life-flighted to one hospital, and the other driver and his two passengers were taken to another hospital for treatment.
