According to KXAN, a young boy riding his bike died after being struck by a car in a Buchanan Dam neighborhood. The Department of Public Safety reported that the crash occurred around 8:20 p.m. on March 18 on State Highway 261 near Lake Breeze Drive, which is located on the southwest corner of Lake Buchanan.

According to officials, a motorist was traveling northbound on State Highway 261 when he saw the 12-year-old boy riding his bicycle on the shoulder of the road in the same direction. The driver told police that he turned his head to look at something to his left hand side, and when he looked back at the road he saw the boy in front of him, and could not avoid hitting him.
The 12-year-old Burnet Middle School student was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries, where he later died.
